The Ugly Frog - Pencil Sketching Time & Additional Random Ramblings!

Hello Cavalier Readers! You must be cavalier to be clicking on a tab of drawings and pencil sketches by yours truly. Sometimes cavalier behaviors wind up in disappointments. If there is anything I am not, it is a profficient pencil wielder. Have you ever seen my penmanship? . . . if you had, you would not have so eagerly clicked on "drawings." However, you are here so you are subjected to them. Therapy is at the third door on the right. Regardless of the lack of profficiency, I do enjoy time with a pencil making messes on paper. It is quite relaxing. You should try it! Unlike me, perhaps you could take a lesson or two or three!

A quick sketch inspired by Lettie in "The White Peacock" as she was carrying her books to show some culture to the country hunk. 18 Jan 2024.

Another quick sketch inspired by Lettie while she was admiring George's muscles in the field. . .19 Jan 2024

This sketch is not a random one like most of mine are. It isn't even the best sketch I have done. Probably not the worst. Anyway, what is this disturbing picture? It is actually a reflection through my pencil of a character, an important character, in Les Miserables which I read this year. She sold her two front teeth to a street quack with pliers pulling people's teeth for money. If you're looking for a side-hustle?! but I digress. . . Why would she do that? I'm not going to tell. You have to read the book or go see the play.

How much would you sell YOUR two front teeth for?

if I ever had a piece of expansive property, I would plant a whole bunch of white birch trees on it; how lovely they look in the winter! and all other times really. . . I think at least. . . well with one of my favorite trees in the middle, an American Sycamore tree. I love the bark of sycamore trees best. Do you have a favorite type of tree?

I do love bowling!

Wilkie Collins Count Fosco
While reading "The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins and having coffee, I did a quick sketch of a fun character in the book Count Fosco! A big fat man who loves to have his pet rats, cockatoo and canaries about him.

drawing of a knight
The above was drawn while reading Parzival a classic. . . Parzival was a Knight as you should guess.

Largemouth Bass
This is a precise drawing of one of the largemouth bass I have caught. Ok, maybe not. . .

a girl reading with a nifty light bracket.

I don't know, looks like a Russian lady to me, so that's what I'm going with Russian Lady.

this is a drawing of a cat. . . someone I used to know's cat. . . I am REALLY allergic to cats, but they do look nice. Not sure this does any justice but it was a first attempt at a cat. Can you even tell it's a cat?

just a random drawing . . . I guess I call it Girl of the Corn as that's what it seems to remind me of. . . you?

Bookmark Making / Paper Crafting (loosely defined!)

10 Dec 2023. I spent a little time making bookmarks. Discovered that the Elmers Clear Glue is no where near as good for what I do in making them as is Beacon's 3-in-1 Glue. . . in case you are a paper crafter. Just a word of advice on that score! The craft store in the area apparently has stopped carrying Beacon's 3-in-1 and they don't know the disruption they have caused! hahaha. . . anyway . . . if you send frog mail, I might, MIGHT, send you back an almost one-of-a-kind bookmark made by yours truly. . . MIGHT! Depends on my mood and frogs are moody! Isn't that right?

12 Dec 2023. Spent some more time making bookmarks for give-a-ways.

16 Dec 2023. Hey! I found a store that's carrying Beacon's 3-in-1! So bookmark making has continued. . . getting ready for Earth Fair 2024!

19 Dec 2023. Hey! Spent a little more time making bookmarks for give-a-ways. Been passing them out to friends and colleagues lately. Sure would be nice to hear all the adventures they go out thru space and time; happy to have my bookmarks traveling around in a whole lot of different books! yay!

21 Dec 2023. Gave away a few bookmarks today and made 1! haha. . ran out of the paper I use for making base parts of the bookmarks. darnit! But hopefully the bookmarks given away today go on some delightful adventures!

22 Dec 2023. Made a handful of bookmarks today after picking up more base-paper for them. I am very particular about the paper that I use for the base part of the bookmarks . . . it's a thing. . .

23 Dec 2023. Made another handful of bookmarks : ) Below:

Sketches of People On here are Random Imaginations and Ramblings by my Pencils; they are not drawings of any real people or people or people that I know, any resemblance is purely happenstance. . . I mean they would be cool people to know but they are imaginary. Just so you know.
