Oak Openings Nature Preserve located just west of Toledo in Swanton Ohio is a great destination for a full day or weekend adventure. It has a lot of trails through various habitats including its claim to fame Oak Savanna landscape. I would recommend going on a weekday(s) as it is a popular destination. The trails are nice and well marked. Also, The North Country Trail (a national scenic trail runs through Oak Openings as well).
I had said that I recommend going on weekdays; however, if you do go on the weekends there is a chance that you can see live music at the cafe / brewery near the mountain bike course / trail. The last time I went there this summer, we enjoyed live music by an acoustic folk music songwriter which was quite enjoyable to relax to after walking and shooting photos for the morning! So going on the weekend can have its upsides too despite the people.
It is worth the adventure there to spend a day or two enjoying the trails.
